Diaz Family

On behalf of Paolo's sister, Paz, I have donated their entire session fee of $250 to the MD Anderson Cancer Center.   The Diaz family has touched my heart in ways I cannot put in to words.  Please continue to pray for Paz and the entire Diaz family as they fight for Paz's life.

Sometimes I wish I could cure cancer, end war, and find the fountain of youth.....but for today, all I can do is give back.... one step at a time.  Always do good.  And pay it forward.

God is our refuge and strength, an ever present help in trouble.

Diaz Family

Meet the Diaz family.   Their requested charity was the Hope From the Heartland Charity.  It is a non-profit out of Tulsa, OK.  They build schools in Africa, drill water wells, provide shoes and help pregnant women with HIV prevent the disease from being passed on the their babies.  What I love about these donations, is that I get to learn about so many charities that I have never heard of.  I absolutely LOVE it.
And of course, with every session I donate 10% to the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the ALS Association.

So here is the adorable Diaz family....

'how to' for client gallery ordering

Need help maneuvering the client gallery?

Here's a quick 'how to' on ordering prints and digital media:

First you will log on to your gallery with password.  From there you will come to your gallery page that has your photos.  Once you decide on which photos you'd like to order prints for, select the cart icon attached to photo:

Once you've selected the cart icon it will lead you to this pop up screen: you can select from digital media or prints.

If you are ordering prints, select the size and finish you'd like and then add to cart.  From there it will appear in the cart icon in the top right of the screen- click on the cart.

It will then bring you to this screen where it will review your order- if it is correct, click on begin checkout

From here you will enter contact and shipping information and you will submit your order

Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions if this does not work, or you are having issues.

Thanks!
Megan

Starting with the [wo]man in the mirror

Bear with me as I try to get this all out.  Its going to be jumbled, messy, and full of awful grammar.  It is what it is.

Here it goes....

Ive been mulling it over for months.  Trying to figure out how to do SOMEthing, while making it simple.  Easy.  But still with impact.

So here's the preface to what's going on...
My husband's mother passed away in 1997, when she was 45 years old.  She was diagnosed with Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's Disease) when she was 39, and passed away 6 years later.

I never met her.  Troy and I didn't meet until 2003.  However, I've heard hundreds of stories, read her letters that she wrote with her computer (she used her eye movement and head to type), I've seen multiple pictures, and I've even had several dreams that involved us meeting each other....and even laughing at the dinner table, and her winking at me.  My sister in law, Cara, and I laugh a lot about it because she's always dropping little signs.

My heart is heavy, in a good way...its full....its full to where I want to spread the need to give back.  I partnered with a friend of mine last year and gave back 100% of the proceeds from a weekends sessions to the Red Cross disaster relief for the Moore, OK victims.  After that was done, I felt like I had just tapped the surface.  I needed to give more, but needed to figure out the best way to do so.  Lets be honest, I have bills to pay just like the rest of you. However, I still NEED to give back.  My heart has been longing to make a difference.  I just couldn't figure out the 'hows' and 'whens' of it all.  I kept going the wrong route.  I was contacting various non profits, wanting to get involved in helping them with photography with no success.  I even contemplated submitting an application for Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep.

So, this leads me to here-  Starting NOW.  January 10, 2014, until the day I get to go meet Troy's mom, I am donating 10% of all my sessions to the ALS foundation. In addition to that, I am donating another 10% of my session to a charity of your choice.  This means, a session of $250 (my going rate in 2014 for a family session), $25 goes to the ALS foundation, and $25 will go to your charity of choice.  My weddings start at $2500 (and go up from there).  That means a total of $500 will be given to charity.

My heart is with the ALS foundation.  Your heart may be with the Susan G. Komen foundation, or the local humane society, or with American Red Cross.  Whatever you choose, that is where 10% of your session cost will go.

I'm tired of the ugly in the world. I'm disgusted by the filth.  So, starting now, I'm going to do my best at making a difference, $1 at a time.

Just when I thought my job couldn't get any better...
